Dear friends & partners,

Merry, merry Christmas to you!  As I write you this beautiful morning, I am asking the Lord to slow down time for you this holiday season.  I pray the Father would allow you another hour by the fire, another smile from a grandbaby, one more cup of coffee with a friend, and an extra kiss from Him.  This time of year seems to race by at breakneck speed.  May this year be different.

“And your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of streets to dwell in.”  Isaiah 58:12

Ruins shall be rebuilt. Foundations for many generations shall be raised.  Breaches repaired.  Streets restored.

In late summer, by the grace and provision of the Father, we fully opened our doors to our new Center City location.  As you may have heard, our building located at 1501 S. Taylor was previously owned by Planned Parenthood.  I was working in the new location one morning a few weeks ago when I was blessed to meet with a beautiful 12-year old girl.  Her mother who was Spanish speaking came in for a sonogram for herself.  But, as it turns out, it became a divine arrangement the Lord made for us to meet with this sweet young lady.  She was accompanying her mother to translate, but the Lord had His own plan.  The mother entered a room with a volunteer and began to ask if someone could talk to her daughter.  She cried as she revealed that her daughter had recently attempted suicide after sending inappropriate pictures to a boy she met at school.  Did you catch that she was 12?

Moments later, I was in a room alone with this child learning sad and overwhelming details about her situation.  She felt alone and ashamed.  She had started down a path with young men in order to fill an emptiness inside, only it was unsuccessful.  Her decisions and relationships had only made the emptiness wider and deeper.  As is His way, our Good Father met her that day and we were able to talk to her about her value, to let her know that she is not alone, extend an invitation for her to attend our mentoring programs, and present to her the unmistakable, unexplainable love of the Father.  She left that afternoon empowered with information, surrounded by support, and a child of the King after accepting Christ as her Savior.

I sat back down at my desk completely overwhelmed.  My mind racing with “what ifs”.  What if our board had not stepped out in faith to purchase the building?  What if our donors and supporters had not stood with us in this endeavor?  What if we would have decided the task was too big for us?  What if our precious girl had come into that building only months before, before the breach was repaired?  She would have left with little information, but likely with a month’s supply of birth control and a bag of condoms…assured that she is simply a product of society and incapable of self-control.  She would have been told that only she can decide when she is ready to make decisions about sex, and she certainly would have walked out those doors without the knowledge of a Savior who died for her.

Ruins shall be rebuilt. Foundations for many generations shall be raised.  Breaches repaired.  Streets restored.

Because of you, ruins have been rebuilt and breaches repaired.  Streets have been restored and you can rest assured, the foundations for many generations are being raised.  I wish I could look into your eyes as I say, “Thank you.”  Thank you for your prayers and support of this ministry the Lord has us in.  Without you, there would be no CareNet.  Without you, the breach would still exist.  Without you, our precious young client, and many more like her, would still have an emptiness wider and deeper than can be imagined.

“And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.”  Ephesians 3:17-18

Because of you, their foundations are raised and their breaches are repaired.  Their emptiness filled. You will never know my love and admiration for you and all that you mean to those we serve.  Thank you again and may you have the merriest of Christmases!
