My good friend, Heather Blythe, reminded me of this saying recently, “When the student becomes the teacher…” How often does that happen in your home? It sure happens quite often in mine.

I choose this subject because I recently wrote to you <a title=”How to Journal with Your Teen” href=”https://candygibbs.com/journal-with-your-teen” target=”_blank”>about journaling with your teen. It has been an extremely busy season for my family. We are no different from you. The new school year brings new routines and activities. My husband is a professional with a demanding position. My office at CareNet has been busy with new character programs, mentoring programs, and just the daily joys of visiting with families. My days begin far before the sun rises and often times carries over into the early morning. As I write this post it is after 10:00 pm. Such is the life of an active family in 2012.

Matthew 6:25 “Do not worry about your life…”

I must admit that there have been a few times over the last few weeks that I haven’t handled all the stress well. Our family had been talking about stress and how it makes us feel earlier in the evening. Later that night, I read in this in my son’s journal.

Rate your stress level…

Level 1 – 3: You can handle it. You are just worried. That’s not good.

Level 4 – 5: The situation is as big as you think it is. Do you have it under control? Did you do your best or did you work hard?

That’s how I calm myself down when I feel stressed.

Tonight, I will take his advice. My situation isn’t as “big” as I have thought it was. And God does have it all under control. Tomorrow will worry about itself…but tonight, we are blessed.

Matthew 6:34 “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself…”

Matthew 6:27 “Who do you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?”

With those reminders, I think I’ll pour myself some coffee and watch my reruns of the Cosby show.

How do you handle stress? Please comment below, I would love to hear your thoughts.
