In case you missed it, my friend Brandon Slay spoke at CareNet’s banquet this year.  He has such a dynamic testimony about what God has done in his life leading up to his winning an Olympic Gold Medal and beyond!  What he chose to speak on this night touched so many.  We have been overwhelmed by the response we have received from our donors.
Here is a little bit of what Brandon said…

The Four T’s of Carrying the Torch

Time:  Everyone has time, right?  Yet, few of us take the time to love the one in front of us.  Time to sit, listen, and be a comfort to someone.  So many people around us just want to be heard and told they are loved.  We should all be on the lookout for ways to love and serve others; but, sometimes it just takes a few minutes of paying attention to the Holy Spirit and taking time to actually be His hands and feet.

Ephesians 5:15-17
“Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise, but as wise, making the best use of your time…”

Talent: Although not everyone can wrestle like a world champion, all of us have been given talents.  Do you know what yours are?  Do you know how your talent can be used for the kingdom?  God can use worship leaders and CPA’s alike.  Don’t be afraid to stick your neck out there and say “here’s what I’m good out…can you use that?”

1 Peter 4:10
“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.”

Treasure:  Obviously, a ministry like CareNet relies on monetary giving.  We  have been blessed and shown favor time and time again with how our donors love and care for us.  Donations not only provide diapers and formula for those in need, they keep the lights on.  They pay the bills so that our staff and volunteers can focus on the one in front of them.

Matthew 6:21
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

Testimony:  Has God reached down with His mighty hand and pulled you from a pit?  If you are like most of us, He has.  Sharing your story brings Him glory and inspires those who hear.  Even your own faith is strengthened when you open your mouth and share. And, it doesn’t have to be a dramatic story of mortal rescue…but, what has He done for you?  What is your story?

2 Timothy 1:8-9
“Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord…for the gospel by the power of God who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began.”

I’m so thankful that our supporters continue to be touched by this word.  We have received donations like we never have before of people’s talent–free services from their businesses, creative abilities to spruce up our offices; treasure–like new donors giving monetarily, donations of office furniture and equipment; time–more volunteers are stepping forward wanting to be a part of our ministry, whether that is with a pregnancy center or the mentoring programs; and testimony–the more we hear how God has rescued others our faith and determination is bolstered.  What an amazing blessing!

Again, I thank you for carrying the torch.  My love,
