Moms & Daughters Conference at Pine Cove

Wow! It’s been a whirlwind of a month already! I’ve had the privilege of being a part of several exciting things– a We Are One Conference with Lisa Bevere, a Feasts of the Lord Seminar here at CareNet, and then a Moms & Daughters Conference at Pine Cove Christian Camps. (PS–I had a new grandbaby(!!!!) and took my son to Texas A&M for a college visit last week, too.)
So, this morning, I’m taking a little time to share with you all about my weekend at the incredibly beautiful Pine Cove Ranch. We had moms and daughters from all over come to join us! I could just tell by watching their interactions that these are precious relationships.
We talked a lot about communication. We talk and talk and spend 99% of our time with our kids in those early years–sometimes the conversations and the daily needs are just too much! Then, something happens–the tween years. They need us less and talk to us even less. How do we prioritize listening to each other and deliberately spend time making that happen?
We also talked a lot about distractions. SO MANY things in the world around us distract us from listening to those in authority (like our moms!) and to the Father’s voice.
I also had the privilege of doing a few “Moms Only” sessions. We talked specifically about the culture around us, cell phones, social media, and the dangers of technology in general. Then, we had a “Moms Only” Q&A session with awesome, challenging questions! These moms only want the best for their daughters and they are willing to go against the grain to prioritize that–I’m so proud of them!
We wrapped up on Sunday with our last session. I decided to teach on the Passover, because it is one of the very special parts of the Chosen curriculum, and I knew the girls would love it. But, I also am still simmering on the Feasts. What an amazing picture of God’s love for His people. The salvation message, Who Jesus is, and what He has done for us could not be more clear. We broke Matzah and celebrated our Savior’s resurrection!
All in all, this weekend was such a great get-away. My favorite thing is to teach, but also seeing those girls’ faces, having a long weekend to get to know some of the moms, and being in God’s beautiful nature was such a treasure for me.
I hope you all have a wonderful week!
My love,
