One of my all-time favorite quotes comes from my favorite president, Ronald Reagan, “Don’t be afraid to see what you see.”

I live in the panhandle of Texas where it is fairly common to experience a thunderstorm. One thing I know about a coming storm, is that there are many warning signs.  Early that morning, the meteorologist will begin saying that it looks like it could be an active evening.  Later that afternoon, we will begin to see clouds building in the distance.  Soon there will be a noticeable change in the atmosphere, the wind will kick in, sprinkles, and rain…all before we are in the midst of the actual storm.

The same is true with our teens.  There are many warning signs before we find ourselves in a crisis, an active storm.  You may notice your teen running around with a different group of friends.  Their eating and sleeping habits may change.  Their language may worsen.  You might notice a dramatic shift in attitude.  Don’t overlook it…address the problem while it is just “high winds and sprinkling” rather than a full blown Category 5 tornado.

He has equipped you, and His Word tells us in James 1:5 “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”  Ask for wisdom, He will be faithful to provide.
