I hope you’ve been able to read the first two parts of this three-part blog post about CareNet Pregnancy Centers & Mentoring Programs. Last month, I had the honor to speak and share with our community all God is doing!

Philippians 3:12-14 says “Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

Forgetting what lies behind…failure or success.

I was extremely sinful and immoral as a teen—even to the point of aborting my first child as a senior in high school. But, if I allow my past sin to define me, I am spitting in the face of all Christ did for me on the cross to save me, redeem me, and set me free.

In the same way, if we are hanging on to a mountain-top spiritual experience from our past…He wants to move in you TODAY.

Our God is certainly alive and active in the ministry of CareNet.

Over the past 30 years, CareNet has touched 176,962 clients.  Last year alone we served 16,954 clients…that is clients coming in our doors!

Our ministry is three-fold, we serve men, women, teens and families before they find themselves in an unplanned pregnancy, we minister to people in the midst of their crisis, and then we continue to journey with them following that situation. All of our services are free of charge and confidential. We don’t receive any state or federal funding…all of our support comes from churches, private grants and from individuals like you.

That is a decision that was made years ago and we have never wavered because we are committed to offer Christ to every person who walks through our doors. We can offer people classes, and resources, but if we do not offer them Christ then we have failed.  Last year, 161 people made Jesus Christ the Lord and savior of their lives through the ministry.

CareNet is a pro-life ministry and we are called and committed to be a partner with the Lord as He restores hope to scared and hurting women and families faced with a pregnancy that has literally stolen their hope.

On January 29th a bill went before our United States Senate called the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. We have medical evidence that a baby at 20 weeks gestation can feel pain. This bill would not allow abortions for babies 20 weeks old or more.

I want you to see a quote from an article written by Dr. Michael Brown:

“It is almost unimaginable that 46 senators would vote against the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. But that’s just what happened … We’re talking about outlawing abortions for babies 20 weeks old or more, and even then, with exceptions for abortions deemed necessary “to save the life of the pregnant woman, or … when the pregnancy is the result of rape or incest.”

How could 46 senators vote against this humane act?

There are 7 countries in the world that allow abortion on babies 20 weeks or more…three of which are China, North Korea, and the United States.

I can tell you that I appreciate and pray for those who tackle the issue of life in the political arena. At the same time, I am also thankful that we are able to deal with the issue one life at a time.

As I have told you before the arguments we hear sound nothing like what you hear debated on the senate floor. A real life, young woman experiencing an unplanned pregnancy never says, “It’s my body. You can’t legislate morality. Abortion will be a great choice for me” Often with tears in her eyes she says “I have no other choice, my parents are going to kick me out. My boyfriend will break up with me, I will lose my scholarship”

We have the honor of watching as the Savior, our Rescue enters the situation and speaks hope and light “I came that you may have life and have it to the full…”

In 2017, 650 pregnant women came through our doors seeking an abortion, and of those 635 chose life!  98% had a change of heart!

Our past does not define us, but I can tell you one thing for sure…the testimony of how the Lord took our past and what the enemy meant for evil, and redeemed it and is now using it for His glory…Now, that is powerful!

Please keep visiting the blog in the coming weeks as we share with you the stories of those who have been touched by CareNet!
